Excellent USB socket for car data/charging

Installed with new head unit in car for wired Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It works great and offers fast charging (doesn't support turbo charge mode, but still charges quickly even when running navigation and music). Haven't used the A/V input yet, but I doubt there will be any surprises.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • unreliable

The USB port size is out of specification.

The size of the USB connector does not meet the specifications, some USB devices do not connect to it and a normal USB stick is still difficult to insert. One of the USB sticks I have takes a micro SIM card that doesn't even come close to being inserted, and then pulls out the SIM card when removed. Not well made for all specs.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Modern

Great product, works as intended.

I have replaced both outlets in my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. Top with voltmeter and dual 2.1A USB charger. Good to have a voltmeter and not just a stupid lightbulb. And this product has been in the bottom hole since I got the Dual Apple CarPlay radio. Really cleans the setup! USB 3.0 was not needed but could not find a 2.0 setting. I couldn't fit a snap ring around the bottom one due to the car's construction, so I used epoxy instead.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance

Good for the price.

Unlike some other reviewers, I found the lid to open and close easily and the USB connection worked great for all the cables I tried. The only criticism would be the mount. It looks very unfinished and has a slit at the bottom for some reason. This isn't a problem for me as I plan to mount the unit in the cigarette lighter hole, but if you were planning on using a mounting bracket you might want to look elsewhere. (See the image I uploaded.)

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • I won't say anything

The plastic lock nut cannot be held very tightly

The quality of the electrical parts (USB and 3.5 plugs and cables) is very good. However, the block itself is made of plastic. The lock nut that you screw onto the back of the device to hold it in place is also plastic. Unless you attach it to a perfectly flat piece of plastic (like the bracket that comes with it), you won't be able to tighten it very firmly and prevent it from moving or loosening after installation. For example, I used this device to replace the factory round USB connector in…

Pretty functional, but not an ideal design.

This works great as advertised, if you connect RCA cables to the source, the AUX input connector works for music input. When you connect the USB cable to your stereo, the USB port will work in tandem with the music input and provide power to the device (assuming your stereo has power). If your stereo doesn't have USB inputs, you can connect it to a power adapter for charging. The materials are durable and don't feel cheap. The nut on the back is well tightened and will remain secure from the…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
