Only for small family radios

I have several radios. I have been involved in search and rescue and have been a ranger volunteer for 7 years. My other setups are for large commercial radios; and my hams are sloppy with these straps. If you plan on using it with small family radios that don't have a lot of buttons on the surface (like ham radios), that's fine. If you want to use something else. Inserting and removing the radio from the elastic sock is incredibly difficult; and made even more difficult by the way they…

Coaxsher RP-1 Scout

I've had a slightly larger Coaxsher chest radio harness before (can't remember model name/number) and I really like it. I wanted to try the smaller RP-1 Scout harness for comparison. The biggest difference is in the suspension/seat belts. The RP-1's suspension is simpler but designed for less support. I totally agree. And the second major difference is the number of radios and storage space for notepads, pens, etc. I don't have a problem with that either - the suspension is smaller - so it…

A must for Search and Rescue

I've been toying with the idea of getting a chest strap for a while and now that I have it what a difference! I've had the opportunity to use the RP-1 Scout in restoration work over the past few days and it was really handy to have an easily accessible place for the radio, GPS, pen and paper. Things that would normally clog pants pockets or belts were well organized with the Scout harness. such as Kenwood TK-360 or GPS/cell phone. I was able to try the harness on in a sweater, work jacket and…

Perfect size for a radio application with a different slot.

Perfect size for a radio application with another open slot for flashlight, cellphone, spare battery and whatever else is needed. The ability to customize each attachment point is why I choose this unit over the dozens of other options available. The best part about this style is that it does NOT prevent the use of pockets or pen slots on a tie shirt and its corners still allow name tags/tags to remain visible. I will stick with this product and order annually if needed. He holds the radio…

Doesn't work for Bendix-King, otherwise it might be ok.

Standard mount for a small radio. However, this does NOT work well with the Bendix-King EPH/GPH handheld - the elastic pouch is too tight and the top velcro strap goes right through the screen on the front of the radio when the battery (standard size or clamshell) is inserted into the elastic bottom . However, it is suitable for small radio stations. I was a bit surprised by the additional pocket on the front. This would be a good size and configuration for the "clamshell" phones we all used a…

Not perfect, but it works.

I am a 5ft 2in tall female on a mountain search and rescue team. I already had a Scout but I rarely used it because the pockets were too tight and it was almost impossible to use even with my small Wouxun radio and GPS Garmin 62s. In the summer I have pockets that attach to the shoulder straps of my backpack and I don't use a chest strap. External pockets do not work in snow, while the jacket can cover the chest strap and still provide easy access. I tried to modify my old Scout without success

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs
