Crafters Workshop 🔩 Framing Template, 6x6 Inches, Gears Review

If you've read my other reviews you know I love Crafter's Workshop stencils. This one is no exception. If you are into steampunk and art journaling, do yourself a favor and buy this template. You will not regret it. I also use this on ATC and for bookmark exchange. So easy to trace or spray mist/ink.

This is a template and a mask. In other words, there are a lot of closed areas that give you a lot of negative space. It works well with sculptor's paste to add a 3D texture. However, distress stains, ink, and even acrylic just get underneath, and I get a distorted smudge instead of a clear image of the gears. Gear teeth will also damage sponge applicators and marker nibs. This is one of the few steampunk stencils; unfortunately I couldn't do much with it.

I use this template or parts of it for a "masterpiece" :))). I wish it was bigger, more like an 8x8, but I'm on a very tight luxury budget, so I get what I can afford. It's a pretty template, but it's flimsy and will warp if you're not careful. I trace a circle smaller than the gear, then trace the gear and teeth, the spring in the mechanism, and then erase the pencil lines. I would like a larger and more durable stencil if I get another one. I like the steampunk design and one will do for this
