Although I would order a super duper that can go a mile

is ok, although I would order a super duper that can go a mile this device can go 300 feet or so. ok i think I could probably connect another Wi-Fi antenna to this unit with a USB adapter. I think the USB adapter is what you're really paying for here. The small Wi-Fi antenna is just an add-on.

C. Crane Versa WiFi WiFi 3 USB Adapter - High performance. C.Crane

Got this as a gift for my girlfriend who could NOT get wifi in her 14th floor apartment. My tech friend was able to put it on and hold it with his handy gadgets! Yes! Now she is happy, keeping up with her TV and most importantly her emails which we missed for about a year until she was able to access them after I got that for her! Thank you and Cheers!

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Very expensive

Wide range: USB network adapters

I'm really amazed at the range this article has to offer. It picked up my Wi-Fi signal 150 feet across the house, around the corner, through the metal shed and into the building I live in. The building is also metal, but I placed the antenna in the window. The cable from the antenna to the USB port is nice and long. I decided to grab this instead of the $99 device as I figured I wouldn't have to pull the signal a mile away. But I might choose it in the future when I'm in an even more rural…

I still have to test Skype with it, but so far so good.

Just received mine today and immediately noticed a difference in signal strength. I'm abroad now, living in the barracks. My barracks are basically glorified Conex containers. My wireless router is in the room across from me. So the signal is trying to reach me through two metal walls. Installation was easy and as soon as I plugged it in I saw a difference in signal strength. I went from three or four bars to full strength. I still have to test Skype with it, but so far so good.

Good adapter when used correctly.

Decent adapter. The range is very good, but not great. For best performance, use an antenna that plugs directly into the adapter, or use a high-gain antenna with the shortest possible cable. The supplied antenna cable is too long (loss of signal), making it difficult to receive the weakest signals. Be careful when using it with a USB extension cable as this device is very sensitive to interference so only a quality cable will work without data errors. if I didn't have a lemon The software…

Small handy efficient Wi-Fi adapter

This is a very small easy to use Wi-Fi adapter. To my surprise, on a Windows 8.1 laptop, it's quick and hassle-free to just plug it in if you're in an area where your computer's Wi-Fi is running. After that, you should turn off Wi-Fi on your computers and everything should be fine. My problem was the signal strength. While it wasn't very good, the signal had to go through at least 4 walls and as a result there was a signal, but it's not yet obvious that the return signal from the laptop didn't…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
