Ideal for braces, splints and braces

I have a broken leg and bought this so I can get out of my boot and put on my holiday shoes. The shoes were comfortable enough and I liked that they didn't expose my toes. I bought cleats to go over so I can use them on the beach and this combo worked great. The only downside would be that it dangles a little at the top, but not enough to be a problem. I just wish it was a little cozier. Really just bean counting. Costs money.

Good sole support, poor foot protection.

I bought this after breaking a few bones in my left leg. Doc put me in full size Air Cast boots that were too big (and dangerous) to ride. Bought the Darco to have a smaller "boot" to wear only when driving my manual transmission jeep. To that end, it has served me well over the past few months. Just be aware that it doesn't protect the top and sides of the foot, so you just have to be careful.

  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Expensive

This size does not fit.

I ordered a small because the size said it would fit women up to a size 10. I'm a size 8 and with braces and bandages I had a feeling it would work but my toes landed right on top. Since my pins were in front of my toes, I needed the extra room this was supposed to give. I already have peep toe boots but need extra protection. I also bought a molded case which is great. At least I can use the boot I already had and not have to worry about snow.

Pros
  • Quality finish
Cons
  • Damaged

Too short and unstable

I have a narrow foot 7.5, I have a fractured fifth metatarsal and the doctor said I'm ready to transition from aircast boots to these shoes. I was stunned to discover that although the little one was supposed to be a women's size 10, it barely made it over my toes. But they are clearly designed for a much wider foot than mine because even with the closure as tight as possible (the top strap is a good 6 inches past the last velcro point) my heel still lifts an inch above the sole when I pedalโ€ฆ

Order size 9 for women - with a toe injury.

I was a little disappointed with the size. Tried to find the dimensions and was wrong! I have a normal shoe size 9. I ordered the medium because he said med size 7-10. nope! If you have bandages, toe gauze or toe injuries, order Large so you have room at the top of the toe box. Even without a wrap, it fits slightly over the other leg. The sides are good, adjustable if you have a narrow foot. This is not the type of shoe for a lot of support. But protection is better than nothing! And velcroโ€ฆ

Great for broken toes :)

This shoe healed my broken toes perfectly. The big toe is completely broken and the other 2 are cracked so it will take some time to heal and it will be too swollen to wear regular shoes for a while. Many orthopedic shoes and boots have the toes hanging down, but this one covers them. I wear women's shoes that are a size 6 1/2-7 and the little boot is big enough to wrap around and stuff to fit. The straps are detachable, making it quick and easy to find the right and comfortable fit. It's light

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

really comfortable: Fracture & Cast Boots

This is the best shoe for any type of foot surgery. It's really comfortable and easy to put on and take off, which is important. I had major surgery The toe they assigned me as soul shoes was so small I couldn't walk straight so I chose this one because the sole is so wide, with other shoes I couldn't walking on carpet, my foot kept going to the side, I had no problem with that, I work in construction, I can wear shoes for a month after the operation, which I technically shouldn't, but I won'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Darco โ€“ Winner

I am comparing this to: ProCare Post-Op Shoe, Square Toe, Medium. I have an avulsion fracture of my fifth metatarsal. I wear women's size 10 or men's size 8.5 in Skechers and New Balance shoes. With the exception of the closed toe on Darco, these shoes appear almost identical. The sole seems to be about the same height and density. Both models are equipped with two Velcro fasteners and have a square toe. DARKO: harder. The Velcro and padding that make up the outer portion of the shoe feel a bit
