A quick and inexpensive way to sharpen blades

At first I was concerned that sharpening the blades would be either very difficult or time consuming. Luckily I didn't find either one. I'm not something you want to rush into as it requires a steady hand (and you're holding a sharp knife), but I've found I can sharpen a blade better than new in about 10 minutes. I've lost the right angle a couple of times, so if you look very closely at the blade you can see a few spots on the body of the blade where the blade goes too far, but that's not a…

DMT is only good for sharpening your sense of smell.

I used this stone to level the bevel I made on the Ajax flange wedge with a steel file. The surface I sanded was about half an inch square. When I was done with the extra stone, I collected the sawdust with a magnet. This was equivalent to about an eighth of a teaspoon of steel dust. The stone itself did not survive the experiment. The surface of the stone that was in contact with the wedge is covered with hundreds of deep ridges of diamond particles, and that part of the stone is so destroyed…

As promised - sharpening stones

I purchased the DMT Extra-Coarse in April 2011, now in January 2012. The plate was purchased specifically for mounting on billet aluminum and was used as my profiling plate on the EdgePro Apex and used for leveling scales and freehand work when needed. In all of these functions it has performed as well as I could wish for, and even in a few odd areas that I hadn't thought of when I made my original purchase.
