Because it's so small (about 1 inch long) it can circumvent the contours that are so common on snowboard edges today. It's also small in the vertical direction, which helps it clean the edges of snowboard bindings. I used to have an older Swix ski sharpener , which did a fairly effective job of keeping sharp edges on my skis, but after about ten years I stopped skiing and lost this tool. So I came to Revain looking for a replacement and unfortunately settled on this DMT tool. I've used it a few times with minimal ski edge enhancement and now the tool is mostly worn out.
