Works as advertised

It took a while to get it working with pf-sense but now I'm getting 2.5 gigabytes on my tplink hotspot instead of 1 gigabyte. This helps to stream HD movies over WiFi from my Plex server.

Works great with macOS!

This adapter was as easy as plug and play. Although I don't have many devices that support 2.5Gb/s, I was able to get a faster transfer rate than my usual with my 1Gb/s adapter. Works great for streaming latency sensitive content (game streaming)!

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Works well with USB Network Adapters

This is an ethernet adapter that allows you to connect an ethernet cable to a USB-C port. One end has an ethernet port. The other end has a USB-A connector. The device is plug and play - just plug it into an available USB-A port on your computer and it works. I am very satisfied with the performance of this device. I use it on my Win10 Surface Laptop for a wired internet connection. A wired connection is much faster than the old Wi-Fi connection. Overall, this device is easy to use and works…

Shown as 2.5 gGbe connection but doesn't pass on 2.5

I connected this to the USB3.1 port on a Lenovo system using a high quality Cat6e cable used to connect to a QNAP 10g switch which is also connected to the PC with a network ASUS 10G cards and a Cat 8 cable. Switch ports are designed for 1, 2.5, 5 and 10 gigabits. The PC and my iMac (which uses a Thunderbolt 10G box) transfer data from their NVMe drives at full 10 Gigabit speeds, but when I try to transfer to/from a Lenovo using a 2.5G adapter, is it slower than 1G speed , and in Lenovo also…

Need the latest driver from Realtek or BSOD

Although this one can reach 2.5GbE, you need to download the latest driver from Realtek, otherwise the performance maybe only GbE or worse, you will get Win BSOD with Win 10 Default Driver . This device has a built-in driver, but to install it you need to connect it to a PC or laptop, but WITHOUT connecting an Ethernet cable to the network. When you do this, it uses the default Win 10 driver. . You'd be better off downloading the driver directly from Realtek as I've found that the driver that…
