This aftermarket roller and belt is just terrible. I have previously purchased at least two others from other suppliers which lasted 2-3 years before needing replacement. This one sounded no better in a week than a worn one with failed bearings. This is absolute rubbish. I ended up buying one from Dyson (OEM part) and my 7 year old Animal DC 17 vacuum is like new. When we started having problems with our Dyson dc17 vacuum I went on You Tube to see if anyone had the same problem. They suggested it sounded like a brush roll and gave instructions on how to remove and replace it, it seemed simple enough and it was. Three screws need to be unscrewed, the cover is removed, the brush roller is removed and the drive belt is removed. Check the belt, if it looks worn, replace with the new belt that comes with the order, then thread the brushroll through the belt…

We had a Dyson for a very long time (over 10 years) before it became necessary to replace the brushroll. It once started smelling hot when one of the sides was stuck due to a broken piece. We ordered this replacement and it fits perfectly. We didn't realize how worn the bristles on the original roller were until we compared them to a new one! Man what's the difference! Now we're getting a better, more thorough cleaning and I see we should have replaced it sooner. Can't comment on the durability
