Extract the digital hdmi audio signal from the HDMI input and convert it to 2 channel analog stereo R/L output or 5.1 channel S/PDIF Audio output; Your equipment and cables need to be consistent resolution. High Denfinition: Supports 24 bit /deep color 30bit, 36bit per channel (36bit all channel) deep color; Supports HDCP, Video EDID Pass Through, Input resolution up to 1080p (50/60Hz), 1.4 HDMI, 3D, do not support ARC function. Audio Support: Analog RCA L / R output particularly supports 2CH PCM stereo audio. SPDIF Output supports 2CH PCM, 5.1CH Dolby Digital, DTS Audio (Dolby Digital Plus not supported). This Audio Extractor will output the Dolby True-HD, DTS-HD, AC3, DTS, DSD audio format, But can't decode these audio formats. Works fine but not for my application.

I have this to split the directv channel sound to my stereo (I use directv to hear music around the house). The problem with this box is that HDMI is not a pass-through and should always be on. also for television. I really am not

  • Audio support: RCA L/R analog output specially supports 2CH PCM stereo audio. SPDIF output supports 2CH PCM, 5.1CH Dolby Digital, DTS Audio (Dolby Digital Plus is not supported). This audio extractor outputs Dolby True-HD, DTS-HD, AC3, DTS and DSD audio formats, but cannot decode these audio formats. If your amplifier or soundbar does not support these audio formats, there will be no sound from your soundbar or amplifier, so set the audio format in your HDMI source to PCM/LPCM audio format.

I have an old Technics receiver that supports 5.1 Dolby and DTS. It was made before HDMI was available, so it doesn't have HDMI inputs/thru ports. It has two TOSS and one digital input. That sucks because it's older technology and most audio/video devices only use HDMI. I have a Roku 1 and a Blu-ray player that only have an HDMI output. Saved me from buying a new entertainment system!

I have had a Bose Lifestyle 48 system for many years and have been very happy with it. The system I have has digital optical audio and S-Video inputs, no HDMI.
