This is a contact head temperature sensor. I installed one head on my Evinrude 115 HP V4, another on the others. Don't overheat your outboard - it's very expensive. These sensors are worth every penny.

Works, but only halfway. I had my doubts about the analogue voltmeter but wanted it to match the other instruments on my boat which also belong to Faria. Unfortunately a quick dyno test prior to installation shows this is not as accurate, reading around half a volt at 12.6v.

Instrument beautiful and well made but not accurate. At a voltage of 14.6V, it indicates a low voltage level. The sensor is off at both ends of the scale, so it's not a calibration issue. I think if the manufacturer had known about this they would have chosen a normal charge voltage to calibrate, but it looks like they split the difference.

Bought as a direct replacement for a meter I ruined by running the outboard without a battery. There is no voltage regulator in the motor and the voltage got too high and the meter burned out. The sensor comes with all the hardware to install, the backlight works well but is a bit inaccurate. Using a volt/ohmmeter (Fluke 85) on the back of the meter shows that the meter reads about 1/2 volt below zero. Not a big deal as it tells me more about the charged battery than the charge level, but…
