Top buy!: Antennas

It was great! We never had a CB near us until this summer and I'm amazed we didn't get it fitted sooner! We drive a lot with my brother and it's great that we can talk while driving without stopping. FireStik works great and does a great job with everything.

Pros
  • Hands-free calling
Cons
  • Replacement availability

Healed my Freightliner

I drive a Freightliner Cascadia with a more than useless CB antenna built into the roof. Wasted money on a pair of antenna systems that will never work because of the fiberglass roof and hood. With this kit I got an acceptable SWR for the first time and was able to talk about a parking spot.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • For seniors

Used when installing a mobile home. Works perfectly.

Slightly adjusted but I have SWR 1-1.1 on channel 40 and 1-1.3 on channel 1. I've learned NOT to use an external SWR when testing with this as the SWR of the altitude in the ways stood . Thinking owning coax has something to do with it. After removing the external SWR meter, everything became normal. I used the internal SWR meter of my Galaxy 929 CB. It was installed at the end of my camper (see picture). There's no room for a ground or large "base" antenna, so I tried this. I'm happy.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Unfashionable

Fixed SWR Issue: Antennas

I have a Kenworth T800 with a Uniden PC78ltd CB radio. My SWR was off the charts after trying different antennas and cables. It never occurred to me that the problem is in the base layer. After installation my SWR is still around 2 in the low band even with the antenna fully cranked, but my main channel (19) shows an SWR of 1.2, the same for every channel up to 40. The quality of the antenna and the feathers are very strong. However, I did not use the specified amount because it is already in…

Vert Resistant to wind and excellent reception.

It was easy to install the SWRs (once I saw how to do it!) READ the instructions and DO NOT CUT or CUT the coax. The length of the coaxial cable is "matched" to the Firestik at the factory. The Firestik came with a stainless steel mounting bracket that I used along with a custom extension bracket that I made from 1/4" steel angle and 1/4" flat bar. It is attached to the bottom of the bed between the cabin. It is also attached to the top of the cab where the sheet metal is formed behind the cab…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Excellent NGP antenna for CB and radio equipment

Good efficient top loading design. Easy installation and configuration. and at worst it's still under 2:1 at the bottom and top of the strip when I'm pinned to the back of my backpacker's stairs and a little over 2/3 of it is overhanging the roofline. (Not exactly the best place for an antenna, but it's the only place I can mount it without drilling holes in the RV and still keep it less than 13 feet off the ground). It has good reception and transmission properties. Does 35 miles with no…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Vanishing
