Gila sets the standard for high quality window coatings. Easy to put on, easy to take off. Stays in place but in addition I surround the edges with clear packing tape/tape to ensure the window treatment doesn't curl after weeks of hot sun. This particular item goes well with white side blinds. If you live in an apartment building, typical landlord rules do not specify colors other than plain white, which is allowed without notice.

Item was fairly easy to apply. The directions say to use the Gila applicator kit, but basically you need a sprayer filled with water, paper towels with a squeegee, and a blade. It says to stick the film to the window, but you will first need to measure and trim about 1 inch more than the window to make it easier to cut when applying. I would buy it again if I had to but it was only to cut the strong sun in our eyes. It seems quite private and does the job.

I am satisfied with this product. It doesn't quite cover the full length of the window next to our front door so I only gave it 4 stars. But it actually worked out well because we left a 5 inch clearance at adult eye level so we could see the porch whenever we wanted. It lets light in and looks like blinds from the outside. It was easy to cut and install. I cut mine out with scissors. I used some soapy water in a spray bottle to glue it in and my library card to blow off the bubbles.

My side lights consist of six 7" x 11" window panes. Cropping the film was easy enough. Being so small all I had to do was wash the windows, remove the backing (didn't have to use the recommended tape trick), line it up with the window, press the squeegee down and dry. No need to apply soapy water and create bubbles. In itself it stuck well. A little water might help a little if I have to level a lot. But with these small applications everything is simple. I'm less impressed with the design…
