There are three versions of Hario V60 bleached paper filters according to James Hoffmann (check out his YouTube). Original version without tabs, made in Japan. Tabbed version made in Japan. The third version, also with riders, is made in Europe. Per James: Both the Japanese versions are very similar in feel and performance, the European version is slower and has a bad taste. This is the Japanese tabbed version and I find it very consistent.

I tried these filters against a Melita bag, similar to the Costco filters I've used before. I really didn't think there would be a huge difference, but I was very wrong. The taste is more neutral to me with these filters, not so much compared to another brand that has a bit of a sour taste and some chemicals that I can't identify.
