Not bad for lighting and lighting accessories

Works, but there is feedback. Both indicators on the instrument panel will flash when either turn signal is activated. Even in the dark you can see how both indicators work; Example: when the right turn signal is on, it works fine, but the left turn signal also has a very weak, weak blink. This is most likely caused by feedback from the device. A better device wouldn't have this kind of feedback. Otherwise it seems to be working reasonably well.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Works as I am supposed to except for the hazards

I have built an off road bumper for my Suzuki Samurai with trailer lights but unfortunately this converter is needed to get the brakes, reverse and turn signals working bring. . For this purpose it works great, I've deducted a star because although all the headlights work, for some reason the hazard lights don't work and the turn signals don't work, I'm not sure why. Overall I would recommend this for any application with trailer lights.

Failed basic dyno test

I tested it on a dyno with about 1156 LEDs and 10 ohm terminators. Nothing works on the output except the taillight pass circuit. I'm an electrical engineer so I hope you know what I do. I also tried the Hopkins 46255 tail light converter and found that my dyno works fine. I was hoping to use a smaller box like the Hopkins 48845 for my bike but it's either broken. or hopelessly specific about the loads it requires. Thank you for Revain's easy return policy.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Only available in white

Nothing for modern cars.

If your vehicle requires or uses isolated trailer wiring (a separate circuit from normal lighting), a CanBus system (requiring an isolated system) or LED lights; This doesn't work and DOA is displayed when connected. This thing needs direct-connected bulbs to work because it's grounded through the car's bulbs, not ground. Blown lightbulbs in the car also prevent this thing from working properly as it can't find ground through the burnt filaments.

Pros
  • Extremely Impressive
Cons
  • Elderly Questionable Purchase

tested on the stand, i can't get it to work, i'm throwing it away.

I'm not the biggest jerk when it comes to electrical car systems but I can't get this thing to do anything useful. Bench tested before doing anything on my bike and I'm glad I did. On the 5-wire side, I can power each of the brakes, L-turn, R-turn, and get absolutely no voltage on any of the wires on the 4-wire side. Applying voltage to the brake cable on the 5-wire side results in voltage at L and R on the 5-wire side! This means my front turn signals now come on when the brake light comes on!

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • There are downsides

cheapest alternative. compact little unit easy to mount anywhere

uses this to convert a European style front signal on a 2007 Vespa Lx150 (steering wheel signal sleeves have been removed and single filament bulbs switched). Amber). This is by far the cheapest way to brake/power up your motorcycle (hoppy 48845 plus 2 anti-hyperflare resistors are about $16). Custom Dynamics' module costs over $100 and does the same thing. I think they charge more for installation without splicing. The Hoppy is also very compact if you're short on space (as is often the case…

Exactly what I needed - great replacement

We have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 with a socket for the hitch and trailer. Our small Boston whaling ship has been restored and the trailer fitted with new LED lights. The headlights tested fine with the battery, but one side did not light up when braking. The turn signal worked on the same light so it was very puzzling. Under the rear of the QX4 was a box that used the car's brake lights to use the signal lights in the trailer as brake lights. This was the only thing that could cause my problem of…
