I don't know why this item is on Amazon, it literally won't fit in a Mercedes ignition hole, don't waste your time and money, this is new for mercedes car toy remote control the real one is suitable for my sons plastic mercedes amg he drives around in the yard absolutely not for real cars!

It's been over a month so far so good. I bought a similar item on eBay over a year ago. Worked for over a year before falling apart. This one felt a little better than the eBay item I bought. This one drew me in because it has a logo/emblem on the back, looks original and authentic (in reality it isn't). For less than $14, this is a great buy.

It was almost a perfect replacement. I looked up and down. I think mine may have been defective due to the infra red not being flush at the tip. I could press it with my finger but it just comes back. I tried to take a picture but it's almost invisible in the photo. Although it definitely feels like it. The key is also VERY rough in and out of the slot. You have to really pull on it to get it out. It might be ok with a small piece of sandpaper on the sides of the tip.

Good product but beware: my IR diode on the end of the board (the 'inside' of the remote) broke after about a week. There is no outside access, which means there must be tension inside the 'shell'. I don't know how to explain it but it put me in a dilemma as the key was no longer recognized. I ended up spending $307 for a complete factory key that not only has an updated design, but was cut and programmed by Mercedes. I should have done that first. food for thought.
