Perfect for vacuuming and floor care

Perfect for my 30 year old Kirby Gen 3 It takes some time and effort to disassemble and replace the switch but for most it is with the right tools and reputation some Youtube videos feasible. Make sure you are wired correctly. Otherwise, your vacuum motor will spin in the opposite direction, which will make the vacuum try to move in the opposite direction when you push, and vice versa.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

This is a replacement switch. It works

I have several of these Kirbys for my shop and I usually buy them cheap from Craigslist or flea markets and end up having to fix minor problems. I bought this G4 with a faulty switch and replaced it with this part and it has been on one of my sides since I installed the new switch and it works fine. I give them credit for being footswitches and since my boys haven't broken them yet they should be pretty damn solid.

Exactly as described

This switch is exactly as described. Aside from the hassle involved in removing the original, the actual replacement is pretty easy to use. There are four wires (plus a wall plug) connected to this switch. I would suggest that people label each wire top to bottom so they know where each wire goes when installing the replacement. Some wire holes will only fit that particular wire, not all. I'll post photos in the photo section above. In particular, I had difficulties extracting the original…

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Slightly repairable
