Disappointing

A bit disappointing. The book contains beautiful flowers. I found the written/illustrated instructions very difficult to follow (I'm new to origami so probably partly on me). I used the book to find how-to videos online. The papers don't seem to be of good quality at all, much worse than other papers I've bought online. Most paper is 2" square, too small for folding flowers, especially paper that doesn't fold well. The DVD didn't work on my computer. I'll try it on TV. I found it inadequate. I…

intermediate book. Nothing for beginners.

If you have never made origami before or are a beginner, this book will disappoint you. You must be familiar with basic folds and origami terminology before attempting any of the projects in this book. If orientation and angles confuse you, look at simpler origami models. Complete enough simple tasks and you're ready for it. My first folding project was a tulip (photo attached). The instructions are pretty simple and easy to follow. Origami Flowers

I really like this book. I love the DVD tutorials that Mr. Lafosse includes in many of his books, they are very helpful. The flowers are new (to me at least) except for the ubiquitous lily - why include them? - He is everywhere, although he is always beautiful. The only thing that irritates me is the paper that came with it. These are common and actually not very good kami. I'm pretty sure this isn't the paper Mr. L used to present the models on the DVD.
