Works perfectly. Plug and Play Ubuntu Linux

zero returns Ubuntu Linux. It might seem like you have a hard time booting the first few times, but then everything runs smoothly.

Windows sees 2 x 100mb disks without controller

The device claims it doesn't need a windows driver but shows up in windows as 2 disks "ASMT109x-config" "without controller". . On the disk in the manager, they are listed at 100 MB each. This is without attached hard drives. Nothing is displayed under IDE controllers. When connecting hard drives, they were not found.

Good if you need lots of SATA ports

I had a whole bunch of loose SATA drives that I wanted to pack into a storage server. Not a full-fledged NAS with RAID, just a file server. The MB I used had built-in SATA ports but didn't recognize some of them. So I got this to give me enough connections for all my drives. So far this has worked great.

Does not work with FreeNas or TrueNas

Purchased for port multiplier in home media server with TrueNas. It wasn't until I installed it that I realized it didn't work with that OS. I take full responsibility as a five minute google search told me this and I should have done this before purchasing. However, I dropped the stability rating as a warning to other buyers as it doesn't work with every operating system. I kept it as it might be useful in the future as it worked great on a Windows 10 PC.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

Works well for the basic TrueNAS/FreeNAS user.

for home users. It worked exactly as advertised. I needed to move a 6 disk OpenZFS pool to a motherboard without six slots on the board. Followed the basic instructions and I was set. We've been using it for a few weeks now, no problems.

Pros
  • I look forward to
Cons
  • availability of Truena's Core 12 Update

Six port SATA controller. Add six hard drives for centralized storage.

I ordered this to make it easier to add six drives to my Linux server for network file storage. It looks well put together: no aftermarket fixes, clean rails and all cables included. It is based on an ASMedia SATA controller and a multiplexer chipset covered by a heatsink and on Linux and some UNIX you need driver packages or even need to recompile the kernel. All ports are at the end of the map. While it's not the newest or fastest chipset, it does what it's supposed to do and at a reasonable…

  • Finally bought it
