📻 Metra Electronics - Subaru 2015-up (95-8907HG) Upgraded Radio Install Kit Review

Used to install Pioneer AVH-4200NEX in 15 Crosstrek. I think the fit looks pretty good, a small gap at the top that is visible prior to installation but looks fine afterward. I used the standard metal clips instead of the plastic clips that came with the kit.

Used to upgrade a crappy factory Starlink head unit to a Kenwood DDX9702S in a 2016 Subaru WRX Limited. Fits snugly in the dash and the HVAC vents snap in nicely. The silver around the HVAC controls looks a lot better than the factory glossy black in my opinion. The only complaint is that there is a 1/8 inch gap around the head unit that cannot be closed. It's not really noticeable, but it would be nice if it fitted snugly.

I used this kit to fit a Pioneer head unit to my 2016 Impreza (non Premium) 4 door (non Wrx) Subaru with standard climate controls. This kit looks great on the dash but I couldn't get the Pioneer unit to sit flush with the cutout so the screen is recessed into the dash a bit. The workmanship isn't bad but the opening is smaller than a double din (7x4) and had to shave the plastic off the back, to get it working with my Pioneer NEX. I'm not sure if I just got a bad block or if it's a design issue. Also, the clips on the bottom aren't as tight as the OEMs. Also note that the underside is silver rather than the gloss black bezel found on the OEM WRX.

Secondary head units with 7 inch screens are common but nobody seems to be making a kit for them. right, which leaves you with a modification of the standard double din kit for a slightly larger screen. The standard hole literally needs to be expanded a few millimeters in each direction to accommodate one of these new 7-inch Android head units.
