Cleaning, EXCELLENT Best Power and Hand Tool

EXCELLENT for CLEANING (many tools) and sharpening 'rough' cutting tools. It is NOT designed for thinner cutting tools, ESPECIALLY bonsai tools. In other words, it's great for CLEANING. But NOT for sharpening VERY thin/clean cutting tools. MOST VALUABLE for "sharpening/cleaning" "garden" tools!

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Small Parts

Terrible at high hardness blades

Advertised here as "Specifically for sharpening high hardness blades." For example Leonard's Handy Weeder which I bought it for. It was a bad joke, useless. These harder blades will not fully sharpen even with fifty strikes. Back to my old larger silicon carbide hand stone working in fifty strokes with these tools. Liked it better, sent it back for a refund. .

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Works great with whetstones

It takes a little practice to learn how to use a whetstone, but it does a good job of keeping the blade of my Okatsune secateurs sharp. A few tips: 1. This sharpening stone should be soaked in water (not oil!) for a few minutes before use.2. Use the flat side of the whetstone for sharpening, not the rounded side.3. Only sharpen the large main cutting edge of the Okatsune secateurs, not the wind-up blade. The recording blade has a concave edge. When you take it off, the blades will not meshโ€ฆ
