Worked great for I/O port cards

Just what the doctor ordered! This thing delivers great returns. I needed to add more RAID capable SATA interfaces to my home server and this card was perfect for that. It's also the only card that's reasonably priced, considering these cards can be bought for around $3 in China.

Pros
  • Many will do
Cons
  • Very expensive

Great, cheap and works! Good quality.

Excellent and inexpensive and works! It's been working for several months now. The only problem is that my old system doesn't support the external iSATA connection, but that's not the board's fault. It is installed on an older system to play older games, so it is not supported by the old XP OS. Other than that small issue, it's perfect.

Pros
  • Not cheap, but decent
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Failure after 2 months

Update - Complete failure, PC will not boot with card inserted. Initially this works, but it only works for raid configurations! I wanted drives to be added one at a time, but even with a CD drive and a Blue Ray drive attached to it, it tries to read them as a raid array! I haven't found a way to use it for ide/ahci configurations yet.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Approximately

Good working cheap 4 port PCI SATA controller

This is a PCI card (not PCI Express!, use the ones I have lying around) and supports RAID (may need to enable the Legacy Option ROM in your BIOS) or just JBOD mode. There's a connector for one LED (so there's no activity LED for each device) and two SATA cables are included.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Everything is fine

old PCI card, now with 4xSATA!

I have an 8-drive workhorse that I built in 2007, an additional 3-drive SATA controller recently failed. I installed this card, changed sata cables and rebooted, installed the drivers that came with it. My additional 3 hard drives showed up immediately. Performance is surprisingly decent unless one of them is trying to transfer large files between two drives on the card. Still, if you are patient, the job will get done. This card will of course be a bottleneck for SSDs, but works well withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Not bad

Padarsey 4 Ports PCI SATA Raid Controller - can't display

Bought to add SATA controller ports to an old Power Mac G4 system as I thought I could get some spare SATA drives on this one use system. Mac OS X's System Profiler didn't detect any additional SATA ports or even an installed PCI card, so I gave up on the Mac at that point, believing it wouldn't work. On another Linux/Win 7 system, the card prints a message at boot (indicating that the card is working), but Linux does not recognize the PCI card or additional SATA ports. I didn't even botherโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Not the best
