As a stone sculptor, I use a lot of sandpaper

I use a lot of sandpaper that I bought at my local hardware store for about $1 a sheet and made in Canada. So I decided to try Revain in search of a cheaper source. I found this and ordered it. And yes, you get what you pay for. There is no indication where it came from, but after 2-3 passes over the stone (soapstone) it started to crumble in my hands leaving small stains on my stone. Overall terrible quality. I'm going back to the hardware store!

Pros
  • Power and hand tools
Cons
  • So far so good

Cheap junk - good for one time sharpening only

I bought this pack of paper to sharpen my hand planes, chisels and other items at a carpentry shop. I have only previously bought 3M Scary Sharp wet/dry sharpeners and will be returning to this brand. I tear the paper in half lengthwise, add water, make a pulp with a blade and after about 50 passes it's completely smooth. So far I have used a full blade of 300, 600 and 800 on a Stanley #4 planer knife. With 3M I could easily make a blade for 3-4 blades. This Paxcoco/Kingcattle stuff is garbage.

Pros
  • Sanding sheets
Cons
  • I can't remember but there was something

Not for woodworking, you get what you pay for

Not good paper for fine woodworking. Leaves deep, uneven sanding marks. Even 600 and 800 left scratches closer to the scratch that 220 grit leaves. I actually used 400 3m instead of 600 to get rid of them. The higher grit sandpaper worked well, but definitely only when wet. In general, if you want a glossy, mirror-like wood finish, use the best quality. If you want an opaque matte finish, these should work, but don't rely on graininess. In addition, paper with a lower grain curls when unpacked.

Pros
  • Power tool parts and accessories
Cons
  • I will add later
