Worked once. and then scattered.

Worked in one pass (less than 1 gallon of Honda VTM-4 Rear Diff Fluid was pumped in) and then exploded while pumping/dumping residual fluid from the pump. I'm glad it didn't fail halfway, but it wasn't meant to be a one-time thing. VTM-4 fluid is not particularly viscous like a 5W oil, nor does it have solvent properties that could damage the plastics or seals of this pump. The length of the transparent hose was sufficient, at least for my use. but was slightly bent near the pump due to…

Best Freaking $9 I've Ever Spent

This worked great right away, I pumped through almost 5 gallons with no problems. Now it's one of those "best damn $9 tools I've ever spent" at my shop. It literally pays for itself in the amount of gear lube you won't spill back down the shop, not to mention saving you time and frustration. Gear oil at the right intervals now that it's not so PITA! One thing I liked about this thing that is not mentioned in the product specs is that there is a nice little jagged piece of plastic at the end of…

Better than hand pumps.

The pump fits a 1 gallon windshield wiper fluid reservoir, although the lower extension hose was too short to pump out all of the fluid. The end/tip of the hose is small enough to fit into the transmission oil dipstick, but too short to mount the pump on top of the engine. I had to use a different hose to increase the length. The extension fits the pump tip snugly and snugly. It's tapered so it was easy to put it on tight and snug. It took about 30 pumps to pump a liter of gear oil, so it took…

A handy tool for the DIY enthusiast

This pump was purchased to service the transmission on my 4WD car. Not much room to easily tip liter bottles to change the fluid in a car's differentials and transmissions. This tool made my experience easier, although it required some muscle building. The pump was designed for gallon bottles, although you can also find a liter bottle with a larger opening. Mine fit snugly in a gallon bottle of Amsoil so it was used for this service. I poured gear oil into this bottle and pumped from the bottle

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank

Practical pump at a good price

My new Honda Ridgeline requires regular oil changes as well as rear differential oil which requires Honda VTM-4 (1 gallon) ATF (transmission fluid) which holds 3.5 liters. Replacement Honda DW-1 ATF fluid and a transfer case, which requires about Β½ quart of 75w90 gear oil. They are easier to refuel, especially the rear differential and transfer case, which require refueling under the car. It is very difficult to water something from below. Much easier to pump in the hole! Many liquids don't…
