Diamonds wear out too quickly

I couldn't finish my second chisel before the 400's and 600's lost all cutting ability. After 30 minutes, still no burrs, I went on to my 3000 wet stone and was able to finish the job. I used water and scrubbed with a nylon brush, wiping the surfaces every 5 minutes. I painted the bevel with a sharpie and it took 28 passes to take it off (and still no burrs). It took 5 tugs to remove the wet 3000 grit stone and it got a nice light burr. Very cheaply made.

Just today get

It's cheap. I don't know much about sharpening or diamond stones but they were cheap and I needed something that would allow me to repair some of the tools I had. They're flimsy but work great for what I wanted them for and it should have gotten me moving. I may buy better quality stones later when I know more, but for the price I'll say they work like a charm for a beginner like me. If you are too good make that choice but I give them 5 stars for what they are.

These sharpening plates are ideal for sharpening flat blades such as planes. However, to be used for knife sharpening, they must be raised to make room for your grip on the handle while maintaining the correct pressure angle on the plate. The rubber backing provides excellent contact with flat surfaces to keep the record in place even when wet. Four grits cover the entire spectrum of edge renovation requirements. Add a leather strap and you can shave with your blades. The only reason I gave…
