I am extremely disappointed.

I bought this disc to back up data from my computer. Even though the drive got hot at times, it still worked well and I was able to store whatever I wanted. Unfortunately, he died two days after the 30-day return policy expired. I've lost 3/4 of the information I kept in it forever. Now the hard drive is not mounted or formatted on any computer. I am extremely disappointed.

512 GB Speedtest - USB sticks

I ordered this stick in Germany because no other stick is like this: 1. Very small: it fits in a USB slot with any other device nearby .2. Fast read/write speed!3. $130 is a good price, I could only find slower and heavier 500GB sticks for $400+4. Now that I have a flash drive, it looks very premium with a metal case. The stick is formatted exFAT by default, for some reason Windows 10 doesn't like that on such big devices: it takes a long time to access the stick, but read/write is fast. So Iโ€ฆ

slow slow slow good for computers and accessories

UPDATE: I have contacted PNY and they think I have a bad hard drive. They are about to process a refund/exchange for me. Will update again when I get a new flash drive. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This drive claims to be USB 3.0 but appears to be slower than USB 2.0. It took over 2 hours to transfer 30GB on it. It's not USB 3.0 fast. Then when I tried to reformat it to something other than exFat it basically failed. I wish I didn't have to wait so long because I would be sending it back. I used it toโ€ฆ

DOESN'T WORK ON MAC

I've spent over an hour on the forums trying to figure out how not to make this a waste of money. I tried moving my photo folder to this disk and halfway through it gave me an error saying it couldn't be completed. I had no idea it was natively formatted for MS-DOS. Now when I look at the hard drive in Finder I see this photos folder but it's grayed out and I can't open it. I can't even erase it. I can't even erase the drive. I can't even transfer other files to the drive even though there areโ€ฆ

Has some lag when viewing photos/images

Very very good on paper but not very good in real life. In general, I like PNY products; They have always been economical and have performed better than I was promised. But I can't say that about this USB stick. While sequential copy/read speeds are as promised, and disk writes are actually quite good, this drive has a very odd "ticking" lag when viewing photos directly from it. So when you double-click an image and try to open it, it sometimes shows a delay that lasts for about 2-3 secondsโ€ฆ

Pros and cons of a very small device with a huge amount of storage.

I am a photographer who likes to carry a complete archive of all my photos with me at all times. With a handful of these drives I can now. Over the last few years I've purchased over a dozen 256GB and 128GB PNY flash drives. This is my first 512GB model. No PNY drive has ever failed or stopped working. Here's my take on the pros and cons of my new PNY Pro Elite 512GB USB drive.________ THE GOOD FIRST:1. The ability to fit around half a terabyte of storage on a small flash drive is amazing.2โ€ฆ
