I have purchased several of these plates - two 0.5 lb (8 oz) bowls and two 1 lb (16 oz) bowls. I have two small dogs (Chihuahua) and use the small bowls for water in their cages and the large ones for food at mealtimes. I bought two 26 ounce bowls to use in my chicken coop for shredded oyster shells and sand. The main pen, where I keep food and water, is covered with a tarpaulin. The girls aren't ready for mashed oyster shells, so I haven't put them on the runner yet. I considered using automatic feeders but they always throw whatever is in the bowl on the floor.
