Description of 🚗 RS9000XL RS999221 Shock Absorber by Rancho

NINE LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE -- Nine-position easy-to-adjust knob allows customized damping control and firmness for on-road and off-road flexibility. DESIGNED FOR HARDWORKING VEHICLES -- Ideal for stock or lifted trucks, SUVs and Jeeps that tow, haul or go off road. INDUSTRY FIRST -- Recognized as the first nine-position manually adjustable shock series in the off-road market. REDUCES FADE -- Nitrogen gas pressurized to 120 PSI to minimize air-to-oil mixture and reduce damping performance fade and foaming. STRONG AND DURABLE -- Features an application-specific 18mm nitro-carburized piston rod to resist scuffs and corrosion, double-welded loops at stress areas and 1.25-in. sintered iron piston for enhanced structural integrity. HANDLES EXTREME TEMPERATURE CHANGES -- Up to 2.75-in. tri-tube body (application specific) filled with all-weather fluid allows for cooler operation, increased vehicle control and ability to withstand internal temperatures of -40 to 248°F. SMOOTH PERFORMANCE -- Polyurethane rebound bumper and bushings and graphite-filled fluon-banded piston help absorb ride harshness and enhance responsiveness to changing road conditions for an overall smoother ride. BUILT TO LAST -- Low-friction, self-lubricating seal retains gas and oil for quicker rebound and smoother compression while the long-lasting premium liquid metallic finish and polyvinyl protective boot ensures long life.

Pick them up and they drive great. I can't install a remote control.

It took a little time to install from the front, and the adjustment knobs should face forward. If you look backwards you won't be able to adjust them as the bracket gets in the way. Pick them up and they drive great. I have no way to mount a spacer kit, no space to mount the front shocks on the shock mount.

Great shock absorbers!

Nothing beats the Rancho XL shock absorbers. I have driven many cars with different brands of shock absorbers and these are by far the best ever. They offer an incredible ride with "Custom Ride Settings" which is essential when transitioning from tarmac to off-road riding! These dampers also look fantastic given their size! Five stars in my opinion! go rancho :)

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast

Very Quiet Ride: Shocks, Struts & Suspension

If you're looking for a quiet ride, use this on #1. Use it on a 2001 Dodge 4x4 front with a wheel alignment kit and it will eventually ride fine. Also removed the front stabilizer bar to free up the front end and it worked great. These are the only shocks I will be using on the upscale Jeep Wranglers I build other than Fox shocks with custom valving. Pro Comp and rs5000 gave me the worst ride ever.

I was concerned about the harsh ride of my 3/4 ton until I installed it.

'11 Ram 2500: Really nice upgrade from my previous teeth chattering ride that was 65,000 miles from stock shocks. After experimenting, I drive the ranch on the softest setting, both unloaded and in the RV - I prefer a softer ride than many people, but until our roads are fixed I don't want to rip anything in the RV, and I suppose the Trucks already have damaged ball joints and even radio links from the tough standard ride.

These shock absorbers are excellent

These shock absorbers are already installed on several trucks. I don't like the stock shocks that Dodge puts on their HD trucks. I have a dual 4WD car and driving with stock shocks is terrible. The Cummins engine is HEAVY and I love these adjustable ranchos because I can put the fronts in a 6 or 7 setting and leave it there. And the rear ones I usually leave at 1 or 2 unless I'm towing or towing. Difference between day and night compared to OEM. There are other shocks that could be better than…

Quality control issues

I've had RS 9000's on another truck and they work fine. But I ran into some quality control issues with both these and these new ones. On these new ones the hole in the washer is too small to slip through the shock rod so I had to reuse washers from my old shocks. The adjustment knobs are very difficult to turn by hand and I dare not use a tool for small plastic knobs. Also, the numbers on the buttons are very hard to see, so I'm not sure how to fine-tune them. I believe they should have 9…
