Fits perfectly, but unfortunately doesn't cool the router very much. A small USB/battery fan used to pull air through the device from the top worked better. I got this as a cart filler and it does exactly what it promises, 95% of users will never need this type of cooling as these router chips work up to 120°C. My ac88u went from about 80c to 59-63c with a silent fan, ax88u 50-54c, but it can get very noisy and approach the max but you never need it. as it causes more dust. Every week or two you will need to brush over the top. I guess I play around with it and turn on the fan when I get bored.

I found that for a router or modem with a service life of more than 3 years the cost of the fans is justified. I ALWAYS buy my telecom gear, don't rent it. I've invested in a good Asus AC88U router so I wanted it to stay cool so it wouldn't freeze. I have that not done before and my router usually fails after 2-4 years, when I talk about crashes they don't die they just start doing weird things then I reset and flash and after a short while the device behaves weird, freezes, stops transmitting…

ASUS should be bought in bulk and included with these routers. Thing works great at my temp, we're 78-82 C all the time, after installation and only one working fan they barely audibly dropped to 58 C! A 20 C temperature drop is great and will definitely extend the life of your router. Great product, one of the few that does exactly what it says on the tin, I would recommend buying it to anyone who has a GT-AC 2900. I can't speak for other versions but I'm willing to bet they're just as good .I
