A much faster alternative to a regular USB external hard drive

I bought this primarily for regular backups of full disk images for my Asus laptop, hoping for a faster alternative to Western Digital's My Passport 4GB USB hard drive. I am not disappointed. Benchmark tests with real applications to show the speed advantage over a hard drive. I tested first by making a full copy of my 112.7GB Linux drive, first with a USB hard drive, then with a Sabrent Rocket Pro USB. NVME disk. The hard drive took 19 minutes 30 seconds, while the Sabrent Rock Pro drive took…

Pros
  • USE. Ideal for a variety of purposes including data transfer, high speed storage, data backup, cloning existing drives, running a mobile operating system and more.
Cons
  • Hard to say

Purchased to transfer photos and a few audio/video files (approx 0.6TB total and bought the 1TB model) to a customer who later used as a disk cleaner. I would return it yesterday if I had bought it with my own money. Pros: Build quality and looks are great. You will think you have justified your money until you start using it. Cons: Repeatedly caused system instability incidents that caused a hot shutdown for many hours. Don't set up broadcasting or try to use your computer as simply scrolling…

Pros
  • SPEED - 10Gbps ultra high throughput, low latency and power efficiency. Up to 1000MB/s
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Fast and well built. but not safe and dangerous!

FAIR FAIR that the drive is very fast (950MB/s read/write) and well built. However, this is completely unreliable. Also, do you want to burn yourself? Well, that would be the perfect product for that. I don't have a thermometer, but during use the case heats up to uncomfortable temperatures if you can touch it in five seconds or less. In addition, the SSD randomly disconnects from the computer, while other devices do not have this problem. *** UPDATE September 23, 2020 *** I received a…

  • SUPPORT - Designed to work with both Windows and Mac OS, allowing you to transfer data between virtually any computer in the world. Compatible with trimmer, UASP and the firmware can be updated.

A much faster alternative to an external traditional USB hard drive

I bought this primarily for regular full disk image backups for my Asus laptop, hoping for a faster alternative to the My Passport 4GB USB hard drive by Western Digital. I'm not disappointed. I ran some basic tests on real applications to show the speed advantage over a hard drive. Quality product for external SSDs

The thing works fast. I use it mostly on my computers with USB 3.2 ports (USB 3.1 Gen 2) and get consistent read and write speeds of 950-1050MB/s. It's not the lightest or smallest external SSD, but it feels very solid, durable, and well built. The thick aluminum body really does its job as a heatsink. I've never had this thing get warm even when I'm transferring lots of small and large files. Slightly warm, yes, but never remotely uncomfortable. I've only had it for about 2 weeks but I'm still

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • So far so good

Super fast Super unreliable

This is my first impression of the device: I think the first thing to mention is how good the packaging is. Now for performance. I intend to use this device to run VMs as my internal drive (1TB SSD) has become too small. When I plugged in my laptop (USB-C 3.0) this morning, the first thing I did was migrate my VMs - 6 virtual machines and OS VMDK, 365GB. The average transfer rate was constantly >= 500 MB/s (see pictures) and lasted 10 minutes. The drive did get a little warm, but nothing to…

  • Brilliantly finished

  • Older model
