Caused by USB power surge

I tried this twice on my PC and got a USB power surge message. My computer got very hot due to the Express Card slot, and the Express Card itself was so hot when I pulled it out I could barely touch it. I contacted Sabrent and they were unable to resolve the issue. I then arranged for a return and the seller offered to replace it but told him I was concerned it could seriously damage my computer if it happened again so I'd rather return it. They refunded my money straight away so the 2nd star…

Satisfied Customer Best in Computer Components

Does not work on either laptop tested. I made sure I installed it correctly. My other cards are working fine, so it's not the ports on the computers that are the problem. EDIT* I changed my rating. Sabrent sent me a new card. I can say that everything works great, now I'm a satisfied customer.

Happy with Sabrent, not Best Buy or Staples

Great product. The first one received was broken so Sabrent quickly replaced it and offered tech support which wasn't needed as the drivers loaded right away and it worked straight away and was swapped out on the fly. Excellent after-sales service when needed. 2 weeks still working fine. I would use them again. Staples Tech and Best Buy Geek told my wife and daughter that we had to spend over $450 to get 2 working USB ports on my laptop (motherboard repair/replacement?). Great Sabrent product…

Works with USB3.0 adapter but not with wireless 3.0 adapter.

I installed it on my Lenovo G530/T6500 laptop to use Edimax EW-7833UAC AC1750 Dual-Band Wi-Fi USB 3.0 or BrosTrend 1200Mbps Long Range USB Wireless Internet Adapter 3.0. The card works with a USB 3.0 flash drive, but not with one of the wireless adapters. I'm using Windows 10 Home and it's up to date as of March 19, 2017. Not sure if wireless adapters work through Express Card. or not, but they don't connect when inserted into this card. Both work when using the laptop's USB ports, but only at…

Cannot connect some devices

Works with MacBook Pro 17 Early 2011 i7 256GB SSD 8GB RAM Windows 7. Drivers installed successfully. I can connect my USB 3.0 flash drive and it works fine, so I know this adapter is installed correctly. However, none of my external hard drives are recognized and do not work. Tried the included USB external power cord and it made no difference. I will use this gear when I can but with very limited functionality.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons

I had several ExpressCard to USB 3.0 adapters. This one is my favourite. The drivers installed without any problems. It is a robust and highly compatible device. This has to be one of those cases where a manufacturer deviates from industry practices to create robust and reliable technology, only to annoy its competitors.
