It works, but there's a catch.

This product does what it says on the tin but I would avoid it in bright light conditions. I used this for R/O water treatment for a 29g aquarium with natural plants. After a week I noticed a lot of hair and black beard algae growth. After a quick test, I found my phosphate levels were off the charts. I don't overfeed my fish and maintenance is regular so I was confused as to where these phosphates were coming from. My LFS advised me to use a phosphate absorbing filter material, which…

Works when used correctly

Most acid loving fish do well at a pH of up to 8 once acclimated. The 2 main causes of fish kills are ammonia spikes and PH fluctuations due to too low dkh. dkh (carbonate hardness) is much higher than critical, then pH. Most experienced fish farmers keep it at a minimum of 5. If dkh falls below 3, a dangerous condition is created that will likely kill the fish. Over time the DX in your aquarium will fall off due to the acids produced in your filter. A water change or the addition of an…

Amazingly Effective

Basically I'm going to copy my acidity regulator review here because in my experience the two products are related - I use them together. How efficient Seachem is a cheap company but I haven't had success with all of their products (Acid Buffer, PH Alert) but loved Prime, Flourish and now the "Regulator" series. In any case, in combination with the acidity regulator, the effectiveness is amazing. In buffer water, the results are extremely predictable. I keep Clown Loaches, Neon Tetras, Albino…

If your tap water has a very high PH, consider another product

First, the product seems to be working to some extent, but the Los Angeles County Stone Water seems to be there. walking around and doing other weird things. This review covers two different topics. If you're serious about keeping fish, you'll be shocked to learn that my tap water has a natural pH of 8.2. It also has KH 5 and GH 7 on an API test I have. I keep a 10 gallon aquarium lightly planted with soil and aquasoil substrate. The product directions say to use 1 teaspoon per 10-20 gallon…
