Rings ripped on first use.

Works well so far. The only gripe I have is that the rubber rings are cheap and the first time I used them they looked like they were about to break. There are all sorts of cracks on the rubber rings. I can just buy larger, better quality o-rings once they break, but keep the plastic clips. My advice: only buy them when they have a good discount and don't expect them to last very long. If you want something permanent, look elsewhere.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

I bought these chain adjusters to go with the chains I bought for my Ariens 4.10/3.50-4 snow blower tires. These tensioners come in three sizes: S, M, and L. You will need a very small tensioner or written instructions on how to do what I did to make the small tensioner fit small snow chains. I halved the size by making a figure eight out of the rubber grommet and then folding it in half to form two loops, one overlapping the other. See photo. They work great now.

Great tensioners! for tires and wheels

Before purchasing these tensioners I saw a review that said the rubber had deteriorated. But if you know anything about these types of spanners, you know you MUST have a silicone spray bottle. This not only protects and conserves the rubber, but also makes assembly much easier. You want the rubber to slide easily through the clamps and the silicone helps a lot. And at the end of the season, apply a thick layer of silicone before removing the stretchers. I spray the tensioners for my car the…

Good price, durability Not yet known

I bought these chain adjusters for a brushcutter with very knobby 18x6.50-8 tires. I bought chains from a brush cutter manufacturer, but quickly realized that I needed additional tensioners. I removed my hedge trimmer from the unit and replaced it with a grader blade to clear my large driveway of snow during the winter. I haven't used them enough to know if they will last long. The round rubber piece is made from 3/8" neoprene and the overall diameter of the ring on the outside is approximately

Interesting product, size chart will definitely come in handy

I ordered two sets (4 clamps total) to use with the Terra Grips on my John Deere 455. The Small Tire size was used on a 26 x 12 x 12 garden tractor tire. For those of you unfamiliar with tire sizes, my tractor has 12 inch wheels, tires that are 12 inches wide and 26 plus inches high. This can hardly be called "small impeller size". I went to the manufacturer's website and found no help with dimensions. I took the "Flyer" and was lucky with the size. The listing claims they are suitable for…

'Small size' used on 26x12x12 compact tractor tires

Although described as 'small' they were used on the rear tires of a John Deere 455 compact diesel tractor. The actual tire size used is 26x12x12 can hardly be described as a 'small tyre' " be designated. They worked well on tires of this size. I ordered (2) sets or two "chain tensioners" and used two for each rear tire. Yes, I only put both kits on the outside of the wheel. They fit fairly well in tires of this size and have certainly made their mark when it comes to taking up the sag of the…
