Review on INNOCN Computer Mountable 4K MiniLED Monitor with Adjustable Brightness, Wall Mount, Blue Light Filter, HDR1000, HDMI, and LED by Tyrel Glass

Beautiful 4K monitor with matte finish and panel dimming makes dark IPS look great

The Innocn 27M2U 4K monitor is great. 4K on a 27-inch monitor is 163 pixels per inch, and at arm's length I can't see any jagged pixels in the text curves at all. Coming from a 24" 16:10 1920x1200 (94ppi) monitor, the difference is dramatic. The screen has a nice matte finish and appears borderless, but the functional pixels create a border at the top and sides and a slightly narrower bottom Screen edge. I wish my camera could better represent the color palette. The stand was easy to assemble without tools and the mounting mechanism covers a 100x100mm VESA mount on the back of the screen. The rear VESA mounting hole is about 119x 119mm with a small protrusion on the bottom that provides a protrusion for attaching the stand. While the tilt, height and rotation are easily accomplished, I found rotating the screen between horizontal and vertical, even in its highest position, required tilting the monitor back to get enough clearance to avoid hitting the corners of the table The monitor k Then rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise to switch from landscape to portrait. By default, the Innocn 27M2U was set to low-brightness economy mode and didn't include basic features like area dimming with a 384-zone miniLED array. Expect to spend some time playing with the features, figuring out which options are removed when others are enabled (HDR removes local dimming as an option, for example), and getting used to using the menus. The menu layout and the role of the various buttons is a bit unintuitive and took a few weeks to get used to. The monitor has built-in speakers, but they're limited and it's not really what you want to hear music from. The built-in ambient light feature has multiple modes that illuminate 4 corners and two ribs on the sides, but I was happy to turn that feature off altogether. The Innocn 27M2U uses a power converter separate from the showcase case. The power adapter is rated at 19.5VDC at 9.23A, leaving enough room to deliver 90W of power from the USB-C port to the computer. The wall plug to the PSU case uses a 5 foot cable and the monitor PSU uses a 6 foot cable with a barrel connector and an attached ferrite. I found that some of my DP and KVM cables weren't hitting the bandwidth limit for 4K 60Hz HDR10, but connecting directly with the included DP cable worked great. When my 3070ti's monitor wasn't recording properly/probably struggling with error correction under bandwidth limitations, the menus and buttons gave no feedback on what was going on and were unresponsive, adding to the confusion. My experience with Windows 11 and this monitor has been that if this helps others to match the monitor, a mismatch between windows and display settings for HDR mode will still result in a severely gray shifted/washed out image with most colors.
