## What is Blockchain.com Wallet

Blockchain.com Wallet is the wallet in the Blockchain.com app, which combines a custodial Blockchain.com Account for buying, selling and earning with a non-custodial DeFi Wallet where users hold their own keys. Blockchain.com began work in 2011 with the original Bitcoin block explorer.

## Who holds the keys

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Key control | DeFi Wallet: non-custodial; Blockchain.com never holds the private keys or seed phrase. |
| Recovery | Blockchain.com cannot recover a DeFi Wallet or reverse its transactions; the user must keep a backup outside the app. |
| Seed phrase | Secret Private Key Recovery Phrase, to be written down and stored offline. |
| Custodian | Blockchain.com Account (trading, rewards, staking): custodial; keys for custodied funds are kept by Blockchain.com in FIPS 140-2 devices. |
| Account model | Buying and selling through the Blockchain.com Account requires identity verification. |

## Features and supported networks

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Platforms | Mobile app, browser extension and web wallet. |
| Supported networks | Self-custody on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon and other blockchains chosen by Blockchain.com. |
| Swaps | DEX aggregator inside the DeFi Wallet routes trades to third-party decentralised exchanges. |
| Buy / sell | Buy, sell and swap through the custodial Blockchain.com Account after identity checks. |
| dApp browser | Connects to dapps and shows NFT collections. |
| Staking | Rewards and staking programmes run through the custodial account. |

## Security and audits

|---|---|
| Wallet | No fee for sending, receiving or holding in the DeFi Wallet; blockchain network fees apply. |
| Swaps | DEX aggregator fees are shown when the service is used. |
| Buy / sell | No deposit fees on the custodial account; withdrawal fees follow a published schedule. |

| 27 August 2026 | Current user agreement, defining the non-custodial DeFi Wallet and the custodial Blockchain.com Account, took effect. |

## Risks and caveats

- If the DeFi Wallet backup is lost, Blockchain.com cannot restore access to the funds.
- Two models in one app: funds in the Blockchain.com Account are held by Blockchain.com, while the DeFi Wallet is self-custodial.
- The DeFi Wallet is not regulated, so users get none of the protections of regulated financial services.
- Blockchain.com may receive fees or revenue share from third-party services reached through the wallet.

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
