## What is Keplr Wallet

Keplr is a non-custodial multichain wallet, best known in the Cosmos (IBC) ecosystem and also supporting Bitcoin and Ethereum. It comes as a browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and a mobile app for iOS and Android. It was built by the Chainapsis team, first released around March 2020; its terms are now issued by Togra Corporation and affiliates.

## Who holds the keys

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Key control | Non-custodial: depositing, swapping or staking does not transfer assets to Keplr; the user keeps control. |
| Key storage | Keplr does not store keys; the private key is encrypted with the Keplr password and kept on the device. |
| Recovery | The recovery phrase is the only way to restore access after losing the device or password; one phrase covers all supported networks. |
| Account model | Google login accounts use Web3Auth key generation and get a private key instead of a 12/24-word phrase. |

## Features and supported networks

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Platforms | Browser extension for Chrome (primary), Firefox and Edge; mobile app for iOS and Android since October 2021; web dashboard. |
| Supported networks | Cosmos SDK chains (IBC), Bitcoin, Ethereum and other networks. |
| Hardware wallet support | Ledger, on both the extension and mobile app; the key stays on the Ledger device. |
| Swaps | Keplr Swap aggregates third-party swap services. |
| Multisig | Shared multisig accounts for DAOs and teams, plus a validator dashboard. |
| Privacy (CoinJoin, Tor) | Network-level privacy via the Nym mixnet integration. |

## Security and audits

- Keplr's site describes its stack as open source and links a chainapsis/keplr-wallet GitHub repository; on 31 October 2026 that repository was not publicly reachable, while other Chainapsis repositories (phishing blocklist, chain registry) are public.
- No third-party audit reports of the wallet are published on Keplr's official pages.
- Keplr says it never contacts users asking for their recovery phrase.

## Risks and caveats

- Losing the recovery phrase means losing access; there is no other way to recover an account.
- Google-login accounts have only a private key, not a recovery phrase, and depend on the linked Google account.
- Not every Cosmos token can be stored, because Cosmos chains share no single token standard.

## About the developer

- **Legal entity**: Togra Corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
- **Developer**: Chainapsis team.
- **Founded**: 2020 (first year completed by March 2021)

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
