## What is Monerujo

Monerujo is a free, open-source Monero wallet for Android, developed since 2017 by m2049r and published by Guntherkorp. It is a light wallet that connects to remote Monero nodes, so the full blockchain does not have to be downloaded, and offers in-app swaps through Exolix.

## Who holds the keys

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Key control | Self-custodial: wallet files with the keys are stored encrypted on the phone. |
| Seed phrase | Wallets can be restored from the standard 25-word Monero seed; optional offset passphrases add extra protection. |
| Recovery | Uninstalling the app deletes wallets on the device; backups need the 'Restore Password' (CrAzYpass) to open. |

## Features and supported networks

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Supported networks | Monero (XMR) only; mainnet and stagenet. |
| Platforms | Android, through Google Play, an APK download or Monerujo's own F-Droid repository. |
| Swaps | KYC-free swaps in and out of Monero through the integrated Exolix exchange (added in version 4.1.5). |
| Hardware wallet support | Ledger Nano S series over a USB OTG cable; Sidekick turns a spare offline phone into a Bluetooth signing device. |
| Privacy (CoinJoin, Tor) | Street Mode hides balances and history in public; users can pick community nodes or run their own. |
| Coin control | PocketChange automatically splits funds into several outputs so they can be spent again within seconds. |

## Security and audits

- Open source under the Apache 2.0 licence (GitHub: m2049r/xmrwallet).
- Wallet files are encrypted with a generated strong password (CrAzYpass) derived from the user's own password.
- The developers warn that users may lose all their Monero when using the app and should be cautious on mainnet.

## Fees

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Wallet | Free and open source. |

## History

| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2017 | Monerujo is first released as a mobile Monero wallet. |
| 23 September 2024 | Introduces Sidekick, a companion app that lets an offline second phone authorize wallet access over Bluetooth. |
| 1 November 2024 | Version 4.1.5 'Exolix' upgrades to Monero Core 0.18.3.4 and adds the Exolix exchange. |
| 17 June 2025 | Patch release 4.1.7 fixes QR code amounts and updates translations. |

## Risks and caveats

- Uninstalling the app deletes wallets on the device; without backups and the seed, funds can be lost.
- The developers' own disclaimer warns that users may lose all their Monero when using the app.
- Android only.

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
