## What is Wallet of Satoshi

Wallet of Satoshi (WoS) is a Bitcoin and Lightning wallet app for iOS and Android made by the Australian company Wallet of Satoshi Pty Ltd. It started as a fully custodial wallet and now also offers a self-custodial mode powered by Lightspark's Spark layer 2; the app assigns the mode by region.

## Who holds the keys

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Account model | Two models: self-custody, available globally, and custodial, available only in selected regions; custodial is assigned first where it is offered. |
| Custodian | In custodial mode Wallet of Satoshi, or its service providers, holds the keys and funds; balances are capped at 5 BTC. |
| Key control | In self-custody mode, built on Spark by Lightspark, the user holds the keys and WoS cannot access or recover them. |
| Recovery | Custodial accounts are recovered by email login; self-custody wallets only with the user's seed phrase backup. |

## Features and supported networks

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Platforms | Mobile apps for iOS and Android. |
| Supported networks | Bitcoin only: Lightning invoices, Lightning addresses and on-chain Bitcoin addresses. |
| Buy / sell | In-app Bitcoin purchase in many countries, through partners that vary by region. |
| Lightning | Each user gets a Lightning address (name@walletofsatoshi.com), randomly generated or custom. |

## Security and audits

- The source code is not published; no open-source licence is listed on the official site.
- No third-party security audit is published.
- Self-custody mode relies on Spark by Lightspark, whose terms also apply and whose services come without warranties.
- Custodial accounts carry the risk of WoS insolvency, security incidents or regulatory action, as the vendor itself states.

## How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
