What consumers want to know about you

What consumers want to know about you

Every brand has its own unique story. And every brand tells this story in its own unique way. Some companies focus on their core values, others share all the details about their products.

But what is it that the businesses should really be talking about? What is it that interests the consumers?

Focus on the big questions

A recent study shows that there are a few things that pretty much all consumers want to know about companies that they are dealing with. While some people might have additional requests, here are the most popular questions:

How much does the product or the service cost?

Price is still the most important factor when it comes to purchasing decisions.

What exactly is the company offering?

Consumers obviously want to know more about the product or the service that they are paying for.

Is the product or the service readily available?

While scarcity can create additional value, most consumers still prefer things that they can get without much effort

How is the customer service?

Even if they do not intend to communicate with a company for a long time, consumers still want to know that their experience will be comfortable.

Where is the business located?

If the consumer is not using delivery services, they usually prefer not to travel too far to get their shopping done. A pleasant locale can also be an important factor.

Important parts first

Consumers’ curiosity partially translates into their demands for the design of corporate websites. There is a specific list of things that visitors want to see on the company’s page. And if this information is not available on the corporate website, people tend to distrust the company.

Research shows that the most important element of a company’s website is “Contact information”. 62% of consumers look for this part first. They want to see the ways to contact the business and they want to see them quickly.

The second most popular section of a corporate website is “About Us”. 31% look for general information about the business there.

The third most demanded section (a priority for 30% of consumers) is social media icons. 28% look for a live chat function and 27% want to see product images and videos.

Only 19% of visitors are interested in a company’s blog. And only 10% look for a Newsletter Signup.

We recommend keeping these numbers while updating the design of a corporate website. Obviously, every business has its own goals and objectives. Yet the interests of consumers should at least partially inform the structure of the company’s webpage. This way you can ensure more engagement and a higher conversion rate.

Keep it simple

Every company should have a consistent tone of voice when communicating with their customers. It is a part of brand identity, same as a logo or corporate colors.

It is also worth keeping in mind that simple language is almost always the best option. Nobody enjoys seeing needlessly complex sentences and obscure terms. Even the experts prefer simple and clear language.

You should not rely too much on your white papers too much. Most of these documents are too complicated and needlessly detailed. A few specialists might be interested in reading them. But most people do not want to go through a “White Paper gate” just to understand what the project is about.

Have a shorter presentation prepared. It is best if you can describe your business in two short sentences or even less.

The secret ingredient

Finally, there is one more important type of content that is always beneficial for any corporate website - user reviews.

In a survey by Podium 9 out of 10 customers stated that they take reviews into account when purchasing decisions. Who do the people listen to the most? Experts. community or forum members and actual users hold the most influential opinions.

Reviews can even be more important than pricing. In fact, 68% of consumers would be willing to pay up to 15% more for the same product or service if they would be assured they will have a better experience.

All of that raises two questions: how do you get genuine reviews and how do you put them on your website? Here’s where Revain Widget comes in.Revain Widget is a free web tool that displays reviews of a company or a product on a corporate website. Visitors can read the feedback of others and share their own opinions without having to open another window.
