Aeron (ARN) , the Blockchain for Aviation Safety

AERON is a blockchain flight logging project launched in 2017. The goal is to decrease the possibility of loss, modification or distortion of important air data in order to potentially reduce the risk of accidents.

The concept of a blockchain common to aviation makes it possible to centralize and certify a lot of information (pilot's diploma, piloting time, effective flight time of aircraft, dates and types of maintenance, etc.) and to store it in a way inviolable and at a lower cost. All actors (pilots, air authorities, companies and potentially customers) can store the information necessary for the community or the authorities and have easy access to it.

In the AERON project, the blockchain is the central element for storing information. The different actors can interact with it according to 4 interfaces:
   1. An interface for air traffic controllers allowing information to be entered on the blockchain (departure time of an aircraft, number of passengers, etc.).
  2. An application (mobile or internet) intended for airlines allowing the verification of data from flight schools, air operators or maintenance operations.
3.An application (mobile or internet) intended for pilots allowing to fill in their flight hours, to have them certified and not to lose track of them.
  4. A website for individuals allowing access to various services. At this stage of development, the services offered are limited to booking a private plane to travel, and enrolling in flying lessons.

The ARN token is the exchange unit of the AREON ecosystem. It allows all players to access and pay for the services offered (registration of certified information on the blockchain, data verification, etc.). ARN is based on the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20 token). The development team includes certified aviation pilots, aeronautical engineers and developers (including Solidity programmers, the language of the Ethereum blockchain).

Pros
  • Aeron is built on a robust and cryptographically secure database that makes it unique compared to other online travel agencies, travel search services or internal applications designed for flight attendants. With this technology, data tampering can be minimized.
  • In addition, as you would expect from an application supported by the blockchain, key information is stored securely and is accessible to all with 100% transparency. Except that it is now secured by a multi-signature authentication system which prevents any type of security breach.
  • Aeron is not limited to just one country and has a global growth opportunity if all goes well.
Cons
  • Limited exchanges
  • Small market
