Review on Power Ledger by Robiul Islam

The new energy marketplace.

The growth of these new technologies has effectively led to a change in the power industry, no longer being monopolized by the central authorities but in the hands of growing consumers. To complete this shift and send the solar revolution into the mainstream, it provides a trusted trading platform where customers can sell energy to their peers.

As it becomes increasingly expensive for people on the grid, network and energy retailers need to find a way to keep up with their users. The power laser is a pain in the sense that it wants to disrupt the energy industry, not destroy its value.

It has achieved an impressive list of partnerships with companies willing to test and even deploy its technology, but widespread adoption is not yet a way to stop it. It is an ambitious project but one that nonetheless has the potential to transform the energy industry around the world. While it remains to be seen whether the platform will fulfil that potential, the fact that it already has a working product, and has trialled and deployed its technology in several countries, is very promising.

Pros
  • Supporting functional and decentralized energy markets such as peer-to-peer, village-to-village, apartment block / property manager and vehicle charge.
  • The demand for energy is increasing all over the world, and is limited by the amount of oil we can extract from the land and how much we can use online. It also has supply side economics.
  • Energy sources are renewable, clean energy.
  • Great team, they have the ability to achieve a lot.
Cons
  • Competition is coming hard and fast.
  • The energy thesis is more of a self-supply or civic utility than corporate utilities.
