A feature-rich ecosystem in a league of its own

TOP is a sharding public blockchain network supporting any DApp in general. But the exciting thing is the TOP team is basically developing a public communication network infrastructure where every kind of communication services, such as messaging, calling, VPN, CDN, storage, streaming, IoT data sharing, etc. can be operated. It’s own communication apps Dingtone, CoverMe and SkyVPN will be migrated to the TOP network once it’s ready.

TOP’s capability to offer an astonishingly high transaction per second (TPS) of over 100,000 is very much commendable. It has been possible since TOP is based on shards where each offers 500 TPS and increasing the number of shards translates to increased TPS. The shards count can be increased by either using the multi-layer sharding technology (up to 1024 shards) or just linearly scaling up the number of shards.

The dual lattice DAG (directed acyclic graph) architecture significantly improves the transaction processing capacity. While the single lattice data structure takes care of organizing the transactions, the other block data structure synchronizes account states. This DAG architecture is one of the main technologies of TOP that helps it achieve fast confirmation of transactions (just under 3 seconds) as well as efficient cross-shard and cross-zone state synchronization.

Pros
  • TOP is a communication network infrastructure capable of running any kind of communication services on its public blockchain. By increasing the number of shards, TOP can manage over 100,000 transactions per second, making it one of the highest TPS offering blockchain programs. The dual DAG architecture is the primary tech that allows the TOP network to confirm transactions within just 3 seconds and also synchronize across multiple shards and zones efficiently.
Cons
  • They need to make their presence known more in USA and Europe.
