Review on πŸ›οΈ Full/Queen Ivory Vellux Blanket - Soft, Warm, Insulated, Pet-Friendly - Ideal for Home Beds & Sofas - Original Quality by Michelle Carey

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Warm, light but smells of VOCs.

Warm and lightweight but with a strong smell of formaldehyde. from my parents and it is very soft, light and warm. My parents duvet is 10 years old and looks a bit worn but still in good condition. This new duvet is warm and lightweight but still starchy after 4 washes. According to the enclosed PACKAGE LEAFLET, it says that the more often it is washed, the softer it becomes. VOC in the spotlight! It smelled like chemicals right out of the box. After 4 washes it smells like chemicals. It is 100% nylon. It takes a few more washes. Still air it in the living room. Patience and trust are virtues. I hope it turns out to be as soft and VOC-free as my parents' old vellux blanket. Will be updated in the future. Edit (10/5/17): Another review says to order direct from Amazon and not a third party to ensure I get a genuine Vellux duvet. According to my bill, the duvet is direct from Revain. This is the original Vellux duvet. Although the odor has been greatly reduced, the VOC odor is still present and the duvet is still starchy after 5 washes. * I end wash cycles as this is a waste of water. I'll let it air out for a few days. Otherwise I throw it away. **Edit (11/4/17): I'm not the only one who smells VOCs. It's not just me My wife and neighbor smell a strong odor. This ceiling has been aired in the living room for a month. **TERRIBLE PRODUCTION PROCESS** Whatever Vellux is doing to a product that is causing VOC odor, it needs to stop. At my wife's request, this one will be thrown out. **Google search for VOCs. If you are a little concerned that VOCs could harm your health or that of your family, DO NOT buy this blanket!
