Review on Motive Products - 0115 Late GM Plastic MC πŸ’ͺ Power Bleeder: Boost Efficiency and Simplicity in Brake System Maintenance by Matt Hamilton

Works better than I expected.

So I saw an advertisement for this thing on YouTube. At first glance I thought it might be flimsy plastic and probably junk. I watched the video and it seemed easy enough, and since the last time I had my brakes bled at a local service center, it cost almost a hundred bucks, I figured if this thing works, it will do itself after one use amortize. My brakes in my '97 Chevy Tahoe were a bit soft and I haven't bled the brakes since I had them. So I decided to try this thing on my Tahoe. I vacuumed the brakes and they suck and end up wasting a lot of time. I've used the two person bleed method and it works, but it's tedious and you need two people and if you watch Motive Products' videos you'll see why this should be avoided. The concept of forcing fluid under pressure from the top down seems to be the cleanest and easiest way to bleed the brakes. So I installed it, put on the smaller Chevy adapter (I bought a brake bleed kit with a large adapter plate for the big Chevy master cylinders) that I bought separately and tested it by pumping it to 10psi. .I think anyone with even a little knowledge of working with cars can completely bleed the brake system in about 30 minutes. Yes, this thing is very well made, made of durable thick plastic and works very well. It's really well done. Remember to use Teflon tape on the threads between your adapter and the pressure bottle, and if you're using an adapter plate like the one I'm using, make sure it's really tight. I didn't use a wrench, just tightened it with my fingers and it worked great. My only complaint (but not one that would deduct a star) is that the hose coming out of the pressure tank can get in the way when pumping. I can just cut the tubing and set my knee to 90 degrees.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
