Review on Enhanced Alecewey P2 PRO Portable Extender: Ultra-Wide, Full HD, Height and Swivel Adjustment by OFIYYA P2 PRO by Harry Glass

Very nice screens and an invaluable accessory for remote work

I'm very impressed with the video quality on these additional screens. Once you've completed setup, you can easily set up your laptop anywhere. One thing that needs improvement is the description of the options and cabling requirements. I'm a fairly techy person and it took me a few iterations that I made up on my own as there was no actual documentation. For example, the USB splitter cable has 2 USB-A connectors, one is red and the other is black, but there is no description why that is. When I first connected using this method, both monitors were disconnecting and reconnecting every 10-15 seconds, there was no indication of what was going on or what was wrong, no errors in any of the logs. I then connected the cables to 2 USB sockets on my laptop and immediately both monitors worked properly without disconnecting. I have no idea why that is, and I have no idea what the difference is between a red USB connector and a black USB connector. If I had to guess, I'd say that the red connector is the one that powers the monitors and the second is just the video signal, but I have no idea why changing their position on the laptop ports would have any effect would . The same thing. goes to other wiring methods. The instructions for using USB-C do not say that you need 2 USB-C ports on the laptop, one of which is power and the second is normal. I have 2 laptops and one doesn't have 2 USB-C ports. I had to buy another power adapter for this laptop and then a USB hub with 2 USB-C ports (one of which also supported power delivery) as I was going to be powering the laptop to the regular round power connector and then powering the monitors had to connect US hub 2 USB-C ports. However, after overcoming those hurdles, I now have a reliable way to connect both laptops and am very happy with my monitor setup, which only cost me an additional $65. ($40 for an optional power adapter and $25 for a USB hub which took a while to find with 2 USB-C ports, most only have 1) I recommend this triple portable monitor if you understand how much you have to fiddle with your setup There's little chance you can just plug and play. Both of my laptops are high end models and newer, one was released last month and the other about 7 months ago.

Pros
  • Much easier to set up than cheaper models!
Cons
  • The item appears to be broken, the connection goes back and forth and there is no way to fix the resolution.
