Moldy is defined as "a stale, musty or damp smell”. I ordered the same from Ebay and sent it back because of the strong musty smell. After washing this blanket 5 times - once in regular detergent, 2 times in vinegar, again in baking soda and a 5th time - I couldn't get rid of the strong smell. Mind you I smoke so I shouldn't be a bit of a god in heaven! So I ordered from this seller who must have gotten it from the same manufacturer. After washing it 4 times, even with TSP (which worked pretty well) I got rid of most of the musty smell. I like the quilt design so much that I will keep it. I invested in a bottle of OdoBan for $18. I'll use it and see if the remaining hint of mildew smell goes away. I laugh a little that some reviewers get upset that this isn't an actual patchwork quilt, just a print. Patchwork quilts can cost anywhere from $100 to $1,000! what do you want for 30 bucks Some also comment that the quilt is too short. This is a blanket, not a blanket. This is done so that a separate bed surround can be placed between the mattress and the box spring. The picture is deceiving those who think it is a bedspread - they should warn the customer not to buy a larger quilt to get the effect of the bedspread. I admit that the pillow pads are too small. But I love the pressure. Four stars for fabric design. Minus 5 stars for mustiness and delivery to seller in such condition. I think they sat on an abandoned ship or in a damp warehouse in China for about a year. How can the seller present the goods to the buyers in such a condition? You must have gotten a lot on this boat! I really like the print - it's very pretty and I really appreciate the double sided printing. Update: October 30, 2017 I bought a gallon of OdoBan from Revain. I washed the bedspread according to the instructions and the mildew smell is completely gone!
