I expected it to be a little heavier. Most of the mesh filter is made of hardened plastic. The only metal is a chrome steel "weight" at the top and a thin metal mesh visible between the posts in the photo. It's not heavy, but heavy enough when you take a shower. I haven't tried it in the bath yet. For the soul it does exactly what you would expect. Gather long strands of hair and drain water (until hair covers entire screen). Removing the hair was easy enough, although one star is deducted for small threads of air getting caught between the posts and the metal grille. Pluck a few seconds and everything is clean. On my bathtub, the drain is far enough from the stand that it can't tip over. If your drain is where you normally stand, skip this product. For the bathtub: you can tip it over with your foot (it's not fixed - it just sits). It works, but for the price you might want to consider other options.
