These cylindrical, wire brushes came securely packaged. None of the stems were bent. There are various sizes making this set useful for a variety of projects. I purchased them to use with mewtalwork.The stems of each brush are twisted steel; strong and firm. The metal bristles are securely intertwined with the twisted stem. I expect this set of wire brushes to provide many years of good performance and great value for my dollar.

The stainless steel brushes are VERY aggressive and will certainly damage most non-hardened metal. I purchased this set for an iron engine block and the steel brushes are far too aggressive (they'll be just the thing for chassis rust removal). The brass brushes, however, are fantastic for my application and are standing up to repeated use. I'll certainly be ordering more.

Many competitor brushes are let down by either the bristle stuffness or the wire gauge of the frame. Neither is the case here. Very stiff bristles worth a highly durable frame

The steel brushes are worth it alone. I use them to clean out carbon on egr ports on a cummins diesel engine all the time. They're also really handy to clean the silicon out of bolt holes on timing covers, oil pans or whatever. The brass is a bit too soft to do the heavy lifting so they're my backups for when I decided to order another set. But overall, worth it.Update: these steel brushes are really hard on aluminum. They’re great for anything else really but be cautious of your base metal.

The steel bristles are much thicker than another brand I purchased, so with these cleaning is not as good as they don't flex much and seem too sturdy for use. see my picture for comparison, this product on the right side

The two types of brushes, brass and stainless steel, provide the right choice for cleaning soft or hard materials. The brass brushes do a super job cleaning the inside of brass tubes used in making pens.
