Description of 🏠 Aqara M1S Smart Hub: Wireless Smart Home Bridge for Alarm System, Home Automation, Remote Monitoring, Control. Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant, HomeKit, IFTTT Support

Note: The Aqara Hub M1S requires a secured 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network connection. One Aqara Hub M1S can connect up to 128 Aqara devices (Aqara Zigbee repeaters required). Thanks to the latest Zigbee 3.0 protocol, the M1S supports all existing and latest Aqara devices based on the fastest, most stable, and energy-efficient technology. Wireless Control Center: The M1S Hub connects all Aqara devices and allows for seamless integration across Aqara’s sensors and home automation devices. It controls the connected lights and other appliances from your smart phone. Schedules, timers, and scenes can be set through the Aqara Home app to help you manage your home more easily. The M1S Hub works with all Aqara devices to create a comprehensive, smart home automation system. Focus on Security: A powerful 2-watt speaker can be used as an alarm or doorbell as well as via configurable automations. Apart from the Aqara Alert System, the M1S supports all 4 HomeKit alarm modes. High-quality components and design are not only a subtle addition to any room interior but also make the M1S more reliable by achieving constant airflow through its large, perforated base. RGB Light and Illumination Sensor: M1S has a built-in RGB light made of 18 powerful LEDs and a diffuser. It can be used as an alarm, accent, or night light and has configurable brightness and color. Moreover, compared to our previous hub, it has a fully functional illumination sensor that can be used in automations via the Aqara Home app. All-Round Compatibility: The Aqara Hub M1S makes your Aqara devices compatible with a wide range of smart home ecosystems and voice assistants. Apple HomeKit, Google Assistants, Alexa, Mi Home* and IFTTT are supported. * Note: Not all Aqara child devices are compatible with all platforms. Please see details for each device. Mi Home support may be unavailable at the time of launch of the product and will be added with a future update. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Alexa support is not fully compatible

Few types of available Aqara sensors are available for using Alexa. I tried using some of the Aqara vibration sensors and although they eventually connected to the Aqara hub, Alexa couldn't use them in day-to-day work. Very disappointing.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Hub will not connect to my network

I have a cellular network that allows me to turn off the 5GHz frequency, which I have done...MANY TIMES! I've followed all the instructions, including restarting the router, but it still hasn't connected. I even waited until the iOS 15 update to see if that would help, but it didn't. I will be returning the hub and all accessories.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Never appeared on hubs and controllers

I've spent about 2 hours trying to get an app on my phone to connect to this device with no success. Tried both Android apps on my Samsung phone. Aqara has its own app, and before Aqara developed its own app, Aqara used another company's app to control its devices. The applications failed in different ways, but both failed. I'm an electrical engineer/programmer and couldn't get it to work. I had to go back.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Perfect for me: Home Automation Devices

I know there's a newer hub out there but the direct plug and light from it drew me in as I use a feature like this all the time. I don't use the alarm function because I already have an alarm system. Aqara makes amazing products. My only request would be that they open their bridge to non-Acara devices. It would be A LOT for me if it was time and money but hey we do what we have to do and Aqara has to make amazing products and they have them.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • I'll write back later

Easy setup with HomeKit but not reliable enough

I liked that while the aqara ecosystem is extremely accessible and supports HomeKit directly. There's a variety of sensors, and the hub seems to work fairly well for communicating with devices over a wide area. However, it seems that HomeKit shuts down every few days and needs to be restarted. The app works well, so integration with HomeKit seems dubious. As this is marketed as a security system, reliability is an absolute must.

  • Lots of positive vibes

Don't waste your money

I've spent over $1,000 to get two hubs and the entire censor for my walk through the fridges and freezers at my bakery and after months of wandering back and forth with tech Support to buy the company still has not received a decision. The company's latest response is that sensors don't always work well on metal. This is the worst answer. It does not matter whether it is a household item or a commercial facility. Almost every refrigerator, window, oven, and door has metal. I am now out of the…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Works as advertised

I bought an Aqara hub and door sensor to serve as a doorbell for my massage parlour. I bought at least three other doorbell sensors and none of them worked consistently. I attach a photo of all doorbell sensors to the review. The Aqara installation runs constantly. It also sends a notification to my phone when the door is opened. This is especially valuable when I'm in the backyard and can't hear the doorbell. Notification is instantaneous with no delay, so I can quickly get back to reception…
