I've been an Optimal user in New York for over 10 years and I've been billed $10 a month to rent this exact modem. I have paid for this modem many times. I'm not sure why it took me so long to buy it. Very fast delivery of the package, it was well packed, with new cables, electricity and ethernet. When I tried to charge my account for rent, Optimum told me that this modem was their property and I would continue to pay $10 in rent if I used it. They told me this modem was stolen. to be carried! Test with the Optimum first before turning it on!

I replaced the optimal modem that I paid monthly for. It worked well. The only advice: once connected, be patient and wait until your computer or laptop automatically redirects you to the optimal page for the final installation and registration of a new modem.

To reduce my Comcast bill I bought this to replace a rented modem. It was surprisingly easy, I just had to call them and read the serial number and MAC address and it was registered and working!

pros: - fair price and modem arrived in the box; wrapped up; clean; with power cord and CAT5 cable - turns on quickly and glows green - works exactly like the identical modem it replaced. They claimed that the modem may have previously belonged to someone else and may still be registered with them.
